site help!!

blogger added a new feature "follow it", seems simple enough in the instructions on how to set it up. however, i realized that i'm missing the "layout" tab in my dashboard!
i have "template" instead and it requires you to actually code your site rather than just click on add gadget.
if anybody can help me insert the "follow it" section on here, i would really appreciate it!
or if anybody can help me switch from "template" to "layout"
been looking around the help section on blogger but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack so i don't have a clue on how to go about doing this!
